New park and pond at Tanglewood Manor/Memory Garden makes this decision "A Walk In The Park"!

A new 3.5 acre park, complete with fishing ponds, pavilion, and a mile of paved walking trails at Tanglewood Manor and Memory Garden in Jamestown, provide residents and their visitors with an enjoyable yet safe and controlled outdoor environment for warm weather activities.  These new amenities support a trend that emphasizes activity and stimulation as healthful and beneficial for the elderly, often to the exclusion of additional medication and other interventions.

"Appropriate stimulation and activity can do wonders for the elderly and especially for those who are memory impaired," says Tanglewood owner Nick Fererri.  With this expansion of our outdoor facilities, our residents have every opportunity to fully enjoy and benefit from time outdoors."

Park amenities include:

  • A covered pavilion measuring 32' x 24' with bathroom facilities and a kitchen, suitable for outdoor events and entertaining. Golf carts provide transportation to events held in the pavilion for those who are unable to walk distances.
  • Three fenced-in ponds stocked with fish and available to residents for supervised fishing.
  • A mile-long walking path and several rest areas along the way, landscaped with wild flowers, evergreens, and flowering trees. Trail entrances are accessible to all residents of Tanglewood Manor and Memory Garden as well as to all clients of Comfort Today Adult Daycare.

"This park is far more spectacular than anyone could have imagined.  You have to see it to believe it," says administrator Terri Ingersoll. The serene environment of the park provides a quiet place for meditation and is also a place to involve senior groups from the community for healthy interaction and socialization.
