Frequently asked questions about Alzheimer's disease and dementia
  1. What is the difference between Alzheimer's disease and dementia?
    Personal care with an emphasis on dignity and independenceDementia is a group of symptoms including profound short-term memory loss, intellectual impairment and change in personality. Alzheimer's disease is a deterioration of brain cells.  It is the most common cause of dementia.

  2. What is required to admit someone into Memory Garden?
    A diagnosis of dementia, and a personal or telephone interview with family and/or resident representative is required in all cases.

  3. Is assistance available for Activities of Daily Living (ADL)?
    While independence is promoted, staff is available to assist with dressing, grooming, toileting and bathing.

  4. Does your facility admit individuals with difficult behaviors?
    Yes, our staff is trained to manage many difficult behaviors.

  5. Does your facility admit individuals with incontinence issues?
     Yes, however, we need to be able to manage incontinence.
